svyset command in Stata, which defines the survey design settings for subsequent analyses. Here's a breakdown of its components:

  • Sampling weights: discwt

    • This variable is used as the probability weight (pweight) to adjust for unequal selection probabilities.
  • VCE (Variance Estimation Method): linearized

    • This specifies that the Taylor-series linearization method is used for variance estimation.
  • Single unit: centered

    • When strata contain a single primary sampling unit (PSU), their contributions are centered at the grand mean.
  • Strata: nis_stratum

    • This variable represents the survey strata.
  • Sampling unit (PSU): hosp_nis

    • This variable identifies the primary sampling unit (hospital level in this case).
  • FPC (Finite Population Correction): <zero>

    • No finite population correction is applied, meaning the survey design assumes an infinite or very large population.
