Skewness describes the asymmetry of a distribution. Here's a quick guide to distinguish left-skewed (negative) and right-skewed (positive) distributions:

Right-Skewed Distribution (Positive Skewness)

  • Tail is on the right side.

  • Most data is concentrated on the left (lower values).

  • Mean > Median > Mode.

Left-Skewed Distribution (Negative Skewness)

  • Tail is on the left side.

  • Most data is concentrated on the right (higher values).

  • Mean < Median < Mode.
